Israel Demolishes Home of Palestinian Who Killed US Tourist

Mahmoud Raafat Badran, 15, was on his way home from a swimming pool when the vehicle he was traveling in came under Israeli military fire, Abdul Kareem Qassem, the head of the Beit Ur al-Tahta village council, told CNN.

The Ramallah hospital says another person was moderately wounded and three were lightly wounded.

The two sons of Jihad Messeimi, the deputy Palestinian police commissioner in the West Bank, have reportedly been detained for possession of an M16 rifle. Palestinians say this is collective punishment.

Israeli troops killed a Palestinian teenager Tuesday after apparently mistaking his group for stone-throwers as they returned from a swim, sparking outrage and debate about the security forces' use of firearms.

Troops gave chase and uninvolved bystanders were mistakenly hit during the pursuit, it added, including the Palestinian who was killed.

The road, which connects Israel's main airport to Jerusalem, runs partially through the West Bank and rock throwing incidents are common. "The IDF is investigating the circumstances", a spokesman said.

The move underscores the country's more right-leaning orientation and has raised the ire of some politicians, as well as the Palestinians, the New York Times reported.
