Harrison Ford under investigation after near-miss with passenger plane”

The actor attempted to land on a runway at John Wayne Airport in Orange County, but instead piloted his way onto a taxiway, according to NBC Nightly News. He flew his single engine Aviat Husky over an American Airlines 737 loaded with passengers and then landed on the taxiway. Ford said shortly after the incident, recorded by John Wayne Airport Air Traffic Control.

The FAA told NBC News that controllers gave Ford the proper landing instructions and that he read them back. However, for now, it has been confirmed that Ford is safe, and unharmed, which is definitely good news.

The passenger plane reportedly departed safely minutes later.

Landing a plane on a taxiway is a violation of Federal Aviation Administration safety rules. "The FAA is investigating this incident, however the pilot's name was withheld", Ian Gregor, Public Affairs Manager for the FAA Southwest division stated.
