Westminster Dog Show 2017: Rumor the German Shephrd Wins Best In Show”

"We haven't had a herding dog win best in show since 1987 so it was really time, I felt, that a herding dog came out and did it", said Gail Miller Bisher, a spokesperson for Westminster. Adrian the Irish Setter was runner-up, with Chuckie the Pekingese, Astin the miniature poodle, Duffy the Norwegian elkhound, Devlin the Boxer and Tanner the Norwich terrier rounding out the rest of the Best in Show pack.

Now comes the breed judging, and the much-anticipated Best in Show on Tuesday evening.

On Monday, some of those competing were awarded in other categories.

The last dog to take two in a row at Westminster was an English springer spaniel in 1971-72. "This is our first show dog, we've had dogs before and they've always just been pets".

Madison Square Garden has officially gone to the dogs. The final victor will be announced Tuesday evening.

An additional 330 dogs competed in an agility competition on Saturday, a separate event from this week's judged show.

"It's a dream come true", said Trick's owner, Rhode Island-based dog owner John Nys, of being at the show.
