IPhone 8 becomes OLED iPhone

IPhone 8 becomes OLED iPhoneā€¯

Today, KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo has published a report supporting the theory that Apple will debut the OLED iPhone in September, but the device will face "severe supply shortages" for some time.

Kuo blames production problems related to the phone's "significant hardware upgrades" for the delay, which is likely to cause mass production to be pushed back to October/November, instead of the usual August/September timeframe.

According to a report on CNBC, there was a rumour from Apple's supply chain earlier this month that the iPhone 8 launch will be delayed by two months.

One rumor surrounding the delay and the possible solution was shared on Twitter last week by Sonny Dickson. This delayed production ramp-up is listed by Kuo as a "potential downside risk to shipments" of all three iPhone models believed to launch this year, with a second risk coming from Apple's competitors. There are separate volume buttons and a mute switch on the left side of the phone, as well as a power button and a tray for the sim card on the right, just like on the current iPhone models.

The phone also looks to be visibly fatter than the existing iPhone 7, although exact dimensions have yet to be revealed.

This is getting serious: While Apple-related rumors are never to be fully trusted, we now have almost every credible source and leaker chirping in unison that Apple's upcoming iPhone 8 might be one or even two months late.

Apple is apparently testing an all-new iPhone design with an all-screen on the front panel, curved glass and a stainless unibody steel frame.

The iPhone 8, which features several major components that Apple custom-ordered specifically for the smartphone, will still be released in September. The origins of these photos are basically unknown, which means there's very, very good reason to be suspicious of them, but they at least offer an idea of what we're expecting to see this fall. Some interesting features of the new iPhone 8 include a 5.8-inch OLED display, A11 processor, 3GB RAM and long-range wireless charging. The iPhone 8 is expected to be a milestone in the iPhone release history as it will be released on the 10th anniversary of the iPhone.

An official announcement of the new iPhone 8 is still expected this September given that Apple is reportedly planning to introduce an iPhone 7S at the same time.
