Bounty hunters and fugitive shoot each other dead in Texas

Two bounty hunters were killed in a shootout inside a crowded Greenville, Texas, vehicle dealership as they tried to bring in a wanted man Wednesday.

A wanted fugitive from Minnesota is dead after a shootout with bounty hunters at a auto dealership in Texas, and the end of the confrontation was caught on camera.

The pair, 33-year-old Gabriel Bernal and 54-year-old Fidel Garcia, tracked their fugitive, Ramon Michael Hutchinson, also known as Raymond, to Greenville.

Authorities said he was wanted for an outstanding warrant in Minnesota for failure to appear in court on a drug charge, disarming a police officer and assault of an officer. Bernal and Garcia drew their guns and began giving Hutchinson commands, according to the release. They gave him orders, but Hutchinson pulled his gun and started shooting.

Three people have been killed during a shooting at a Nissan dealership in Texas. His company hunts as many as 50 fugitives at a time and works with dozens of bounty hunters.

A gun tumbles from Hutchinson's hands before he picks it up. An employee was also with two customers in the office right next to them, but none of them were hurt. The men fought as Hutchinson retrieved his weapon and began firing.

"We referred the case to them once we found probable cause that Mr. Hutchinson could be in Texas", Peters said. When they tried to apprehend him, Ford said, the gunfight erupted as horrified employees and customers ducked for cover. Garcia, Bernal, and Hutchinson all suffered multiple gunshot wounds and were pronounced dead at the scene. "That pursuit of justice ended tragically last night ... he will never be forgotten as a hero", Peters said.

State records show Garcia was licensed to manage his own private investigation firm, F.N.G. "TALI is an association of licensed investigators in the state of Texas", TALI President Brad Smith said in a statement. Peters said he finds it hard to believe the two would have claimed to be federal agents. "I would say they were justified in approaching him like that".
