Indian players 'uncomfortable' as Vijay Mallya attends Virat Kohli's charity dinner

Indian players 'uncomfortable' as Vijay Mallya attends Virat Kohli's charity dinner”

Unperturbed by the criticism over his presence at the India-Pakistan match, Mallya has tweeted that he would attend all matches played by India.

Vijay Mallya bagged immediate headlines when the media noticed his presence during the India vs Pakistan match in Birmingham on Sunday. "I intend to attend all games to cheer the India team".

Mallya owes about Rs 9000 crore to various Indian banks and has been out of Indian jurisdiction since March 2016. But, what made headlines was the fact that "absconder" Vijay Mallya was spotted in the crowd at Edgbaston, enjoying the match.

Not just that, but his presence compels the Indian team to leave early so that they don't run into him at the function.

Intend to attend all Champions Trophy games to cheer Indian team, says Vijay Mallya

Mallya has said that he intends to attend all the matches to cheer the India team.

Incidentally, Mallya used to own an IPL franchise, the Royal Challengers Bangalore, which is captained by the skipper Kohli.

Virat Kohli had hosted the ball on Monday for an organisation that tackles human trafficking. Interestingly, nobody knew who invited Mallya to the function.

While one concedes he did not gatecrash the charity dinner given by Virat Kohli's foundation in London and was a guest of one of those people who had bought a table, plain common sense indicates you should avoid being a pest. "Similarly, someone who bought a table must have invited him". The players were very uncomfortable. "They can not ask him to leave or turn their back on him if he wants to have a conversation". He was later arrested by the Scotland Yard in London and produced before the Westminster Magistrates' Court where he was granted conditional bail pending deposit of £650,000 (about Rs 5 crore) prior to his release from custody.
