'Amit Shah should apologise for his comments on Gandhi'

'Amit Shah should apologise for his comments on Gandhi'”

Congress spokesperson Randeep Surjewala even demanded an apology from Shah for "belittling" the Father of the Nation.

Referring to Mahatma Gandhi's mercantile caste, Amit Shah said that Gandhi was a "chatur baniya" (clever merchant) who knew that Congress does not have the proper base or principles, which is why he recommended the dissolution of the Congress.

"Congress kisi ek vichaar dhaara ke adhaar par, kisi ek siddhant ke adhaar par bani hui party hi nahi hai, woh azadi prapt karne ka ek special goal vehicle hai, azadi prapt karne ka ek saadhan tha".

"And therefore, Mahatma Gandhi, with a lot of foresight - he was a very shrewd baniya - he knew what was going to happen in future". Isliye hi kaha tha Mahatma Gandhi ne, kyunki Congress ki koi ideology hi nahi thi, siddhanto ke aadhar par bani hui party hi nahi thi.

"We demand that Amit Shah, BJP and Prime Minister Narendra Modi apologise to the country, the families of freedom fighters and every citizen for insulting the freedom movement".

According to the Congress leader, Shah's remarks were "an insult to freedom fighters, their sacrifices and also to Gandhi".

BJP is today acting like the same special goal vehicle for certain "corporate houses" and taking care of their business interests, added Surjewala. "(The Congress is not a party based on one ideology or one principle, it is a special goal vehicle to gain independence)".

The Congress and JDU has asked for an apology from the BJP President. "Such a comment on the father of the nation is highly condemnable. It is unethical, unfortunate and uncalled for", Banerjee told the media here.
