Busy Aisha Tyler says goodbye to 'The Talk' after 6 years

She's been on CBS' "The Talk" for six years and will leave at the end of this season in July, Tyler said.

With that experience, Tyler said, she realized directing was what she "wanted to do and put [her] life into" and that there was no way she could continue her seven-days-a-week schedule, co-hosting a daytime talk show and be a director.

Aisha will be exiting next month, but emphasized she would love to return and guest host in the future.

Tyler recently became a series regular of Criminal Minds, a CBS hit drama, where she plays the role of a forensic psychologist.

Her co-hosts - Julie Chen, Sara Gilbert, Sharon Osbourne, and Sheryl Underwood - comforted her as she continued the emotional announcement. The departing co-host believes the time is right because of the success of other female directors, such as Ava DuVernay who has several films under her directorial belt and Patty Jenkins with her recent success of "Wonder Woman".

Aisha struggled to contain her emotions as she broke the news and cried.

The longtime "The Talk" co-host has been with the daytime talk show since its second season and will remain on air until the current season seven wraps on Friday, Aug. 4. "And it's been the hardest decision of my life because you guys are my family and I love being with you every day, you know that..."

Tyler joined the show in Season Two back in 2011.

"Life is about change", she wrote. In one post, Aisha wrote that life is about change and sometimes it can be both painful and attractive. Therefore, she has chose to leave "The Talk" when Season 7 ends in July. "Our friendships are so precious to me, and the thing I'm going to miss most is all of the time we get to spend together when we're not on camera". Instead, smile because it happened.
