Ekeblad was born on July 10 in 1724 in the Sweedish capital Stockholm. She discovered to make flour and alcohols from potatoes.

When she was 16-years-old, Ekeblad was married off to Count Claes Claesson Ekeblad, who was twice her age, and had seven children. Ekeblad was the first woman agronomist who discovered how to extract starch from potatoes. "Her discovery helped reduce starvation in years to come", Google wrote in its description of the doodle. Earlier, alcohol products, especially Vodka, was made only from wheat, rye and barley.

Ekeblad is credited with popularizing the consumption of potatoes in Sweden. Her achievements earned her a spot in the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences in 1748 - the same organization that awards Nobel Prizes in physics and chemistry.

She also discovered a method of bleaching cotton textile with soap and replaced some risky ingredients in cosmetics with potato flour.
