Australian bride-to-be shot dead by USA police

Australian bride-to-be shot dead by USA police”

The officers were responding to a 911 call made by the woman who had reported possible assault in the alley in the Fulton neighborhood. A woman also drew colourful chalk hearts on the driveway where the woman was shot, with the names of people who have been fatally shot by police. The officers' body cameras were not turned on during the shooting, and the squad-car camera did not capture it, according to the BCA.

While at the driver's door and talking to one officer, passenger Officer Mohammad Noor, with his firearm already drawn, allegedly shot her through the door.

"Peace flowed through her", said neighbor Melinda Barry.

"The Minneapolis Police Department did an initial canvas of the area to speak with residents last night and this effort is ongoing today", she said. Chalk drawings on the driveway where they gathered said she would be remembered as "a loving woman, a light to everyone".

Despite the fact that nearly two days have passed since the shooting, the officer involved in the shooting has been identified, and the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension has confirmed it has completed an autopsy, there are still many questions about why the shooting transpired.

Officials are now investigating why both officers' body cameras were off.

Mr Freeman has not commented on the case except to say that the officers should have switched on their cameras when Ms Damond approached them.

The Department of Public Safety's Bureau of Criminal Apprehension said an investigation was under way and authorities were looking into whether there was any video of the incident.

Damond's father, John Ruszczyk, told reporters in Sydney on Tuesday that her death was "our worst nightmare".

"Our lives are forever changed as a result of knowing her, she was so kind and so darn amusing, she made us all laugh with her great wit and her humor", Damond said.

Ruszczyk had lived in the United States since April 2014, and was living with her fiancé at the time of her death, the source said. She had originally studied to be a veterinarian but owned a meditation and life-coaching company in Minneapolis, according to her personal website.

Hennepin County Attorney Mike Freeman is the man who would determine whether either officer should be charged in the weekend shooting of Justine Damond.

In a statement released by Australia's Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade, the family of the woman - whom Minneapolis authorities haven't identified yet - says this is a hard time. A newspaper report said Ms Damond was shot while standing alongside the auto in her pajamas.
