Motion to dissolve Parliament won't succeed

Motion to dissolve Parliament won't succeed”

I have today submitted a motion calling for the National Assembly to be dissolved.

The ANC says this confirms its suspicion that the motion in Zuma was never about the President, but rather an attempt at regime change through Parliament.

The African National Congress (ANC) could face court challenges if it goes after members who voted in favour of a motion of no confidence in President Jacob Zuma.

That is why Parliament must now be dissolved.

The party has also expressed concern about a list doing the rounds, claiming to reveal which ANC MP's supported the motion against the President.

'Despacito,' non-Bieber version, becomes most viewed video ever on YouTube
Luis Fonsi and Daddy Yankee's Despacito dethroned Wiz Khalifa's See You Again to become the most-watched video on YouTube . Which means it racked up over 500 million views in a single month. "I recognize the influence that the platform has".

ANC chairperson in the greater KwaDukuza region, Ricardo Mthembu, who on Tuesday led a march against calls for the presidents removal, said the motions were a waste of state funds that should rather be used for service delivery.

Zuma's current term will last until 2019 when general elections will be held. According to South African news site, ThamesLIVE, a majority of 201 votes, 50% of the National Assembly's 400 members of parliament plus one, would be needed for Zuma to be pushed out. Going to an early election is now the best way to respect the will of the people.

The DA said it would table its fresh bit to remove Zuma on Thursday and ensure that it is debated and "voted on as soon as practically possible".

Thanks to loyal voting by ANC lawmakers in the past, Zuma has survived eight no-confidence votes during his eight years in power, the difference here being that none of those were secret. Let's fight an election for the future of our country, and let's do it now.

"We will defeat this planned motion as we have defeated all other attempts by the opposition to overthrow our popularly elected government", he said.
