Vladimir Putin lashes out at Donald Trump over North Korea situation

Vladimir Putin lashes out at Donald Trump over North Korea situation”

North Korea conducted its sixth and most powerful nuclear test to date Sunday, detonating a device that it claimed was a hydrogen bomb created to be carried by a long-range missile capable of reaching the mainland United States.

Prime Minister Shinzo Abe and Russian President Vladimir Putin are set to approve joint economic activities on disputed islands off Hokkaido, a diplomatic source said Wednesday.

The newly elected South Korean president had requested the United Nations Security Council to consider tough new sanctions on North Korea to block its sources of foreign income, including cutting off its crude oil supply and banning its workers from being sent overseas.

Amid escalating tensions in the Korean Peninsula today, South Korean President Moon Jae-in asked for his Russian counterpart's cooperation in urging the global community to cut off crude oil supplies to the North Korean regime.

The spokesman stressed the current level of oil supplies to North Korea from Russian Federation is minimal, so the suspension of them is pointless. He said it "offers a genuine way to defuse the tensions and a step-by-step settlement".

(Russian) "I'm glad to have an opportunity to meet with you today and discuss problems of our concern related to well-known events related to North Korea's nuclear program, missile program, and of course to discuss our bilateral relations".

(Russian) "Pressure and sanctions alone can not solve the situation on the Korean peninsula".

Moon said after the talks: "It is more important than anything else to resolve the North's nuclear and missile issues, which are the most urgent and gravest challenges facing this region, at an earliest date".

Vladimir Putin has attacked Donald Trump over the situation in North Korea, saying conflict with nuclear weapons must be avoided.

Russian Federation has rebuffed USA calls for new United Nations sanctions while Washington has promised its allies advanced weaponry.

Putin told that the sanctions and pressures upon the Pyongyang regime could not solve the North Korean crisis, considering that dialogue is the only solution for a peaceful resolution of the crisis, writes the South Korea's Yonhap agency.
