Hurricane Jose Could Near US East Coast Next Week

Hurricane Jose Could Near US East Coast Next Week”

As of 11:00 a.m. this morning, the National Hurricane Center placed Jose at 305 miles northeast of the Turks and Caicos Islands, moving northward at 9 mph.

Hurricane Jose is now expected to make a full and complete circle, ultimately redirecting its movement toward the west and closer to the US east coast.

Downtown Miami on September 11, 2017, after it was hit by Hurricane Irma.

However, most computer models indicate Jose will stay out to sea and complete a tight enough loop to avoid moving onshore.

"It is too early to tell if Jose will have any direct impact on Florida, but it is expected to turn to the north in three or four days", the state Division of Emergency Management posted on its website Monday.

However by next week, forecasters say Jose can also just go harmlessly out to sea. It is moving east at 6 miles per hour. This is a common path for many tropical systems. Then, there's the lone model taking the storm through The Bahamas before making another Florida landfall.

Current long-term forecast models for Jose are all over the map next week.

Hurricane Jose is lingering in the Atlantic as a category three hurricane, amid fears it could affect parts of the USA east coast later this week.

Tropical storm-force winds from Jose spread over the islands on Saturday.

Hurricane Jose was in the Atlantic Tuesday morning.

Meanwhile, remnants of the destructive Hurricane Irma will likely be seen on the east coast as well.

This is due, the center said, to an area of high pressure that will move around the hurricane over the next several days.

In May, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration said that unseasonably warm ocean temperatures and a no-show from El Niño would contribute to a potentially "extremely active" hurricane season.
