President Trump 'Not Happy' With Secretary Tom Price's Private Plane Use”

US President Donald Trump has said he is "not happy" with US Health Secretary Tom Price over his private plane travel on official government business.

Price has taken at least two dozen private charter flights since May at a cost to taxpayers of about $300,000, according to Politico, which first reported the travel. "I'm not happy about it, and I let him know it". Asked if Price's job was on the line, he replied: "We'll see".

Officials said Price is cooperating fully with the inspector general's probe and will stop using charter flights until that investigation is complete.

On Wednesday, the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform released a letter asking Price for details on his use of "government-owned aircraft for personal travel or private non-commercial aircraft for official travel".

Asked if action should be taken against Price, Republican Senator Johnny Isakson, the senior senator from Price's home state of Georgia, said: "I think that's the president's prerogative for any member of the Cabinet".

"I'm not happy with Tom".

Richard Painter, the top ethics lawyers in the Bush/Cheney administration, described Price's travel practices as "highly unprofessional and really inappropriate".

At $56 Per Barrel, Crude Oil Set for Highest Gain Since 2004
Gulf of Mexico on August 26, shutting down a quarter of the U.S. refining capacity of almost 18 million bpd. The EIA also said total domestic crude output rose by 157,000 barrels a day to 9.510 million barrels a day.

"I'm not going to comment on that because the President hasn't commented publicly", Kellyanne Conway, a senior White House adviser, told reporters.

The Department of Health and Human Services' inspector general is investigating Price's decision to opt for private charter planes instead of commercially available means of travel.

As a USA lawmaker in 2009, Price chastised "the fiscal irresponsibility" of private plane use by government officials in an appearance on CNBC television that he also posted on Twitter. Price is a former GOP congressman from Georgia.

Democrats have also called Price's use of private jets - some with plush leather chairs, kitchens and other amenities - hypocritical.

Trump spoke to reporters Wednesday as he departed the White House for a trip to Indianapolis to sell his tax plan.

"I'd like to introduce Secretary Price to the train", Sen. And I think as a public servant, you have to try to set some sort of example.
