Amazon is now going after teens

Amazon is now going after teens”

Though some have raised concerns over the move, saying that this will allow Amazon to collect data from teenager users, as well as giving teenager such easy access to a parent's credit card.

When a teen finds something they wish to order, they can place the order on the Amazon App, and parents will receive a text or email showing the item, cost, shipping address and payment information. "For teens who have a parent with a Prime membership, they can also access Prime benefits at no additional cost, including fast, free shipping, Prime Video and gaming benefits with Twitch Prime". From there, the teenager is free to create their own username and password and then use that to log into the Amazon App. To get started, parents can visit amazon.com/forteens or sign up via a text or email invitation from their teens.

Parents can supervise loosely by simply setting a pre-approved spending limit per order, or set it up so they're notified of every order and must approve it.

If parents want to give their teen more autonomy, they can skip the approval step altogether and just set spending limits.

Amazon.com is now shifting its efforts to include a new demographic, teenager shoppers; who are now able to purchase items with permission from their parents.

Parents can set up the teen accounts in two ways. Parents are shown the item, how much it costs, and similar details, as well as any note about it the teen may have made. (An annual Amazon Prime Student membership costs $49, compared with $99 for regular members.) Amazon, which had annual revenue of $136 billion previous year, accounts for roughly one-third of all online US sales.
