Ripples of joy over Pak. scribe's rescueā€¯

The Lahore-based reporter was recovered from Pak-Afghan border on Wednesday night, he said, adding that some non-state actors and hostile intelligence agencies were involved in her disappearance.

According to Justice (Retd) Javed Iqbal, who is also the head of Pakistan's missing person's commission, she was kidnapped by terrorists and "enemy agencies", and she was recovered from them.

Tribal elders of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan played a key role in her recovery, Iqbal said.

However, no statement has yet been received regarding the recovery of Zeenat Shahzadi from herself or her family. Talking to TOI, Fauzia said Shahzadi was an angel because she worked on the case of her son despite huge odds. Meanwhile, Shahzadi's brother Saddam Hussain had also committed suicide in 2016, depressed over his sister's disappearance.

Shahzadi, reportedly travelled from Lahore to Islamabad to attend the hearings.

The United States Now Plans to Leave UNESCO
Unesco is best known for its World Heritage programme to protect cultural sites and traditions around the world. But, in 1984, then-President Ronald Reagan withdrew the country from the organization, citing corruption.

Reports say Two years ago, his younger brother Shahzadi had filed an application with the Supreme Court's Human Rights Cell on behalf of Fauzia Ansari, the Hamid Ansari, the mother who had gone missing in Pakistan in November 2012. She was working with Daily Nai Khaber and also Metro News Channel at the time of her abduction.

Later, Pakistani authorities admitted that Ansari was in jail on espionage charges.

"According to Shahzadi's brother Latif, Shahzadi was repeatedly interrogated and threatened by security forces pressuring her to withdraw from Hamid Ansari's case, but remained steadfast in her commitment to help the family".

He was later sentenced to three years' imprisonment by a military court on charges of illegally entering Pakistan and "spying". The application was accepted and forwarded to the Commission of Inquiry on Enforced Disappearances.

Soon after this, Zeenat had started receiving threat calls from unknown persons who told her not to pursue Ansari's case. Law enforcement agencies exercise unrestricted powers under the Pakistan Protection Act of 2014. 1,300 out of a total 3,000 missing people's cases remain pending before the commission.
