Siraj, Iyer included for New Zealand T20Is

Siraj, Iyer included for New Zealand T20Is”

Chief Selector MSK Prasad, after announcing the T20I series squad and the Test squad for matches against New Zealand and Sri Lanka respectively, claimed that Mumbai ace batsman Shreyas Iyer has been rewarded for his prolific performances in all formats. Veteran Ashish Nehra has also been included in the team, but the interesting part is that the pacer finds a place in the 16 man squad for just one game. The three T20Is with New Zealand will be played in Delhi on November 1, Rajkot on November 4 and Thiruvananthapuram on November 7. Nehra was part of the T20I squad for the Australia series but did not play a game. However, chairman of selectors MSK Prasad indicated that a "rotation policy will be applicable" for the captain as well.

22-year-old Iyer was in fine form in the recently concluded series between New Zealand A and India A where he scored 317 runs in the four matches including a highest score of 108. We will continue with him and nurture him and see that he goes on to become successful. "He is still the best wicketkeeper-batsman, not only India has but still one of the best in the world".

"See there is a lot of apprehensions going on about Ashish Nehra".
