West Ham hires David Moyes as manager to replace Bilic

West Ham hires David Moyes as manager to replace Bilic”

David Moyes has called on West Ham's fanbase to give him a chance to show his managerial credentials after he was installed as the club's new manager.

The former Everton and Manchester United boss replaces Slaven Bilic, who was sacked on Monday with the Hammers in the relegation zone.

Moyes left Sunderland last summer after they finished bottom of the Premier League with 24 points.

David Sullivan and David Gold, the club's co-owners, would also want to see clear signs of improvement in West Ham's footballing displays before making a final decision at the end of the season.

West Ham is in third-to-last place in the Premier League after 11 games. It is a well-established club, a well-run football club, so I am looking forward to getting my teeth into it and obviously the job is to make sure we get wins and get ourselves up the league. "He is highly regarded and respected within the game and will bring fresh ideas, organization and enthusiasm", Sullivan added. He resigned at the end of last season and was criticized for his negativity.

In his unveiling video on West Ham's Twitter account, Moyes attempted to rally the fans, saying: "I'm really looking forward to meeting the supporters, being in the stadium with them".

Death toll rises to 14 in Mogadishu bombings
The latest attack comes two weeks after a suicide truck bomb attack in Mogadishu left more than 358 people dead. The Somali government blamed the October 14 blast on al-Shabab, but no group has claimed responsibility.

"Yes, I think I do", he said on the club's official website when asked if he has to prove himself.

"You were talking about his experience, that's what we need".

Moyes must also improve West Ham's form at the Olympic Stadium, the team's new home since leaving Upton Park at the end of the 2015-16 season.

West Ham is a big club.

Silva is now managing Premier League rivals Watford, with whom he has only been in charge since May, Pellegrini is based in China with Hebei China Fortune, whilst Mancini is managing in Russian Federation with Zenit Saint Petersburg. The team has been prone to collapsing after going behind — it has already lost by at least a three-goal margin on four occasions this season — and lacked any real identity under Bilic.
