The U.S. Geological Survey says that a 4.4-magnitude natural disaster struck near Dover, Delaware, at around 4:47 p.m. local time.

The U.S. Geological Survey reported a 4.1 magnitude quake off the DE coastline Thursday afternoon.

Reports on the USGS website indicated shaking felt from Queens, New York south to Washington, DC.

The quake was first reported with a magnitude of 4.4 and eventually downgraded to a 4.1, which could be felt throughout the capital of DE with reported tremors in Baltimore, Philadelphia and even as far as NY. There were no immediate reports of injuries or damage after the jolt rattled the Mid-Atlantic region of the East Coast.

The USGS initially reported the natural disaster as a 4.4, then a 5.1, before dropping back to a 4,4, and now at 4.1 magnitude. Workers at the statehouse in Dover streamed into the streets after the quake to see what happened.

4.1 Magnitude Earthquake Rumbles DC Area

Caruso said he didn't expect any significant damage, given the small size of the quake. It was hard to immediately predict if there would be aftershocks, she said.

Paul Caruso is a geophysicist with the USGS's quake information center in Colorado.

The Maryland Emergency Management Agency has no reports of damages in the state.

An even more powerful quake struck DE before that, according to UD, but that was before scientists took measurements.

The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) published a map showing the quake which was felt in Virginia, North Carolina, Virginia, West Virginia, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Maryland, Connecticut and NY.
