Mueller Subpoenas Deutsche Bank Records Relating to Trump

Mueller Subpoenas Deutsche Bank Records Relating to Trump”

Part of President Trump's banking information has been turned over to special counsel Robert Mueller as part of the ongoing investigation into claims of possible collusion between his campaign and the Russian government, Bloomberg reported.

During a photo opportunity with senators at the White House on Tuesday, Mr Trump declined to answer shouted questions from reporters about whether Mr Mueller had crossed a line by asking Deutsche Bank for information.

Mueller is investigating alleged Russian attempts to influence the 2016 US presidential election and potential collusion by Trump aides.

Mueller, of course, is looking for a Russian Federation connection with this subpoena, but Trump and his lawyers are unlikely to be sympathetic to that interpretation, and will likely cast it as an unreasonable intrusion into the president's personal life - part of the "witch hunt" the president keeps decrying.

"We have confirmed that the news reports that the special counsel had subpoenaed financial records relating to the president are false", attorney Jay Sekulow said in a statement.

Deutsche Bank apparently received the subpoena weeks ago, but a spokesman said the bank would not comment on individual cases "out of respect for investigating authorities" and for legal reasons. This was the middle of the financial crisis, a fact Trump tried to leverage in court, arguing he should not have to repay money he owed Deutsche Bank because it was "one of the banks primarily responsible for the economic dysfunction we are now facing".

DMK Announces N Marudhu Ganesh as its Candidate For RK Nagar Bypoll
The RK Nagar seat fell vacant after the death of former Tamilnadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa previous year . It is yet unclear if the VK Sasikala faction of the AIADMK led by TTV Dhinakaran will contest the by-election.

But despite multiple U.S. media outlets reporting that Mr Mueller's investigation had expanded to include Mr Trump's personal financial records, one of the President's lawyers said that was not the case.

A person close to the matter said Deutsche Bank received the subpoena several weeks ago to provide information on certain money and credit transactions. But the Deutsche Bank subpoena may indicate that the special prosecutor is still looking at a wide range of data, including the president's financial dealings.

Earlier this year, Mr Trump said pursuing his personal finances would be a breach of Mr Mueller's role as special counsel.

The bank also lent up to $170 million for the Old Post Office, a Washington property he converted into a hotel, and up to $640 million for the Trump Intl Hotel and Tower, Chicago, according to the news agency. "Deutsche Bank did not contact us regarding people connected with the Trump administration".

President Donald Trump (L) shakes hands with James Comey, former director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), during an Inaugural Law Enforcement Officers and First Responders Reception in the Blue Room of the White House on January 22, 2017 in Washington, DC. The only conclusion that we can arrive at with any certitude is that Trump is kidding himself if he thinks this investigation will conclude by the end of the year.

Mr. Mueller's investigation has led to charges against former Trump campaign chairman Paul Manafort and his longtime business partner Rick Gates for work unrelated to the campaign.
