Excessive video gaming to be named mental health disorder

Excessive video gaming to be named mental health disorder”

Instances of addiction to playing video games are on the rise to such a degree that the World Health Organization is adding "gaming disorder" to its global classification of diseases in 2018.

"I don't think people should always just jump to the conclusion because someone likes to play video games", Jones says.

"Like in Asia, China and Japan and Korea there are programs set up for folks that have gaming addiction so that they can take the kid out of the home, bring them into a center, try to get them more balance in their life", said Kjome.

Increasing priority to gaming to the extent it takes over other life interests and daily activities.

The behavior is characterized by a pattern of persistent or recurrent gaming behavior.

Barca in Griezmann approach
Even though Suarez is not on top of his game, it does not seem as if the player wants to leave Barcelona . Atletico are claiming Barca have made contact with people close to the 26-year-old France worldwide .

Xiaomi Announces Mi Fan Sale In Time For Christmas
Xiaomi's MI Max 2 offers a massive 6.4-inch screen and a long lasting 5,300mAh battery, yet it is just 7.6mm thick. The Mi Band-HRX Edition Black which is tagged as the "bestseller" on the website will be selling at Rs 1299.

The inclusion of gaming disorder on this list means that doctors and health care workers can diagnose patient behavior as such. That apparently holds true for video games, according to the World Health Organization.

Vincent Allen, a 21-year-old man from OH who suffers from Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy and enjoys playing video games in his spare time, believes that the ruling undermines other serious health conditions.

According to the World Health Organization draft, the classification applies if the symptoms listed manifest over a period of at least 12 months in order for a proper diagnosis assignment. Second, some research has indicated that "video game addiction" is not a stable construct and clinical impairment might be low.

The rules are there to avoid addictive behavior.

However, it's worth considering that in the modern video game industry, publishers and developers put huge amounts of money and effort into keeping players hooked and handing over their hard-earned cash; it perhaps shouldn't come as a surprise that this sometimes leads to damaging patterns of behavior.
