Google could be heading for speaker-less future

Google could be heading for speaker-less future”

According to a recent article by Bloomberg, late past year Google sneakily picked up a United Kingdom -based startup called Redux that was working on some snazzy tech which can turn surfaces-like the screen on a phone or tablet-into speakers, and even provide more focused haptic effects. The transfer of shares of Redux's holding company NVF Tech was confirmed by United Kingdom regulatory filings on 13 December, but Crunchbase says the deal happened in August.

Google has declined to comment on the acquisition, including how much might have been paid for Redux.

Promotion via the social media accounts of the company ended in April 2017 and in July Google employees were made directors, says City AM. "When it comes to mobile phones, we are not only saving valuable real estate and creating a waterproof housing, we are eliminating the need for additional speaker holes and most importantly, improving the audio quality". In March of a year ago, it raised $5 million in funding, with Crunchbase noting that the deal took place in August, with an Irish-based subsidiary of Google conducting the deal.

North Korea Accidentally Hit Its Own City In Missile Test
In his News Year's speech televised nationally, Kim stated : "The United States can never fight a war against me and our state". There are fears that the likelihood of similar incidents occurring over Pyongyang, the country's capital, remains high.

According to its page the company 'developed breakthrough technology which transforms the user experience by bringing surfaces to life with Sound and Touch'.

Some of Redux's tech has already appeared in PCs and vehicle infotainment systems. Redux imagined many potential uses for its products, but the first application listed-and by far, the most interesting-is for mobile devices like phones. Its main Google division started selling its own smartphones in 2016, so new engineering talent from Redux may help the company develop handsets with better sound.

At the CES consumer electronics conference in Las Vegas this week, Google is heavily promoting its voice-controlled speakers that compete with Amazon's Echo device.
