Around 20-25 students of a leading Gurgaon school had a narrow escape when a frenzied mob attacked their bus, a day ahead of the controversial film's scheduled release.

The Gurugram Police said today it wanted to make absolutely clear that no Muslim youth were involved in stoning a school bus full of children on Wednesday. One the film has been cleared by the censor Board, it is the primary responsibility of the state governments and the Centre to ensure a smooth release and the screening of the film.

A school bus carrying students was attacked by protesters in Gurugram, adjacent to national capital Delhi, as protests turned violent.

Amid continuing incidents widespread violence and protests against the release of Sanjay Leela Bhansali's film Padmaavat, Congress President Rahul Gandhi said BJP's use of hatred and violence is setting the entire country on fire. Violence and hatred are the weapons of the weak.

Communications in-charge of Congress party, Randeep Surjewala also slammed the incident in a video he shared on twitter, calling for the Manohar Lal Khattar government in Haryana to quit if it can not control violence.

When the driver did not comply, the miscreants pelted the vehicle with stones apparently to hurt the children. Karni Sena leader Suraj Pal Amu, who had threatened Deepika Padukone, got arrested in Gurugram.

However, as has been seen by the violent incidents across the country, the BJP governments at the Centre as well as in various states like Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat and Goa are maintaining a silence on the issue.
