Brendan Cole has danced his last Strictly

Brendan Cole has danced his last Strictly”

Strictly Come Dancing veteran Brendan Cole has revealed he's been sacked from the dancing competition after 13 years and 15 series because he's "not part of the BBC's vision" for the future of the hit Saturday night show.

Cole, who has appeared on the show since it began in 2004 - the year he won with news presented Natasha Kaplinsky - announced the BBC had not renewed his contract for the next season.

He said that he didn't make the decision and it was made by the BBC, and that he was "in shock".

'I'm in a bit of shock at the moment, it's quite emotional, ' he said. What an end of an era - he's been such an integral part of the show since it started 15 series ago. "I still can't believe it - I've watched the show for years, but there'll be a sparkle less for me from now on". I'm very proud of the whole show.

'We wish him all the very best for the future'.

Being cut from the show could be due to the rows he had in the last series with new head judge, Shirley Ballas.

I'll miss being a Strictly dancer.

"It's an editorial decision".

"I haven't had one of the ones that had a bit of dance experience which you can really challenge, like in the old days when I was young and handsome".

He joked: "I'm very sad to leave, to not be asked back".

He continued: "I would have preferred to have made the decision myself, but maybe I would never have made it because I love being on the show".

A spokesman for Strictly thanked Cole for "being part of the show since the beginning" and contributing to its success.

Apparently she was so upset when the judges made mean comments to him once that she wrote a letter to tell them off - now that's one dedicated fan!

She later tweeted a picture of the two of them, writing: "Good to see @BrendanCole earlier at @ITV, but a tough morning for him having to talk about leaving @bbcstrictly".

"I have always said as long as I've got a passion for it, I want to be there".
