New Text Between FBI Lovers: 'Obama Wants to Know Everything'”

The committee released the texts along with a report titled "The Clinton Email Scandal and the FBI's Investigation of It".

She was in the process of crafting talking points for then-FBI Director James Comey, Page texted Strzok, because "potus wants to know everything we're doing".

Trump said Friday that Federal Bureau of Investigation and DOJ leadership have "politicized" the investigative process against Republicans, noting the Nunes memo "totally vindicates" him in the Mueller probe.

The texts also include discussions about an "insurance policy" against the "risk" of a Trump presidency, "unfinished business" and "an investigation leading to impeachment".

The September 2016 text also came months after Comey held a July news conference where the FBI director announced the closure of the Clinton email investigation and sharply criticized Clinton's handling of her emails at the State Department but recommended no charges against the former secretary of state.

The assertion of an agent in 2016 that President "wants to know everything" about the investigation into Hillary Clinton's emails was contrary, not surprisingly, to the Obama White House's insistence that scrupulously avoided political interference in the probe.

Mueller after the first batch of messages between him and Page surfaced.

If Obama had been meddling in an ongoing investigation of a political ally, that would have been inappropriate.

McCabe was mentioned in one of the most controversial texts Strzok sent to Page.

Strzok and Page were both heavily involved in the email investigation as well as the Russian Federation collusion investigation. The FBI only reopened the probe in late September, after finding a number of emails from Hillary Clinton's home server on the laptop of disgraced congressman Anthony Weiner, husband of Clinton aide Huma Abedin.

Comey announced in July 2016 that he had cleared Clinton of criminal wrongdoing in the email probe, saying that 'we did not find clear evidence that Secretary Clinton or her colleagues meant to violate laws governing the handling of classified information'.

"I$3 t has to be about the Russian Federation probe", former Department of Justice official Matthew Miller told ThinkProgress in reference to the September 2, 2016 texts.

The mention that "Obama wants to know everything" is "concerning", but its actual meaning is "something we've got to figure out", said Representative Jim Jordan of OH, a senior Republican member of the House Judiciary Committee.

Last year, some of their texts provided even more ammo to the FBI, Justice Department, and Mueller's critics. "Now I need to fix it and finish it". "I can protect our country at many levels, not sure if that helps", Strzok replied to Page.

By contrast, the Democrats' media operatives dismissed them as irrelevant, and used the timing of one of the messages to argue it had nothing to do with the Clinton investigation.
