Two small asteroids safely pass Earth this week”

At the same time, he warned that "it is a reminder that asteroids can pass very close to our planet and it's important that we find these objects when they do get close".

The newly discovered space rock passed within 64,000km of Earth yesterday afternoon.

Paul Chodas, manager of NASA's Center for Near-Earth Object Studies said, "Although 2018 CB is quite small, it might well be larger than the asteroid that entered the atmosphere over Chelyabinsk, Russia, nearly exactly five years ago, in 2013".

Astronomers say it is between 50 and 130 feet wide, which means it may well be bigger than the asteroid that entered the atmosphere over Chelyabinsk, Russia, and slammed into the ground nearby in 2013.

Pentagon reveals new nuclear weapons strategy, reversing Obama-era policy
The proposals stem from concerns that Russian Federation may see current United States nuclear weapons as too big to be used. In 2016, the Pentagon had planned to spend about $100 billion from 2017 to 2022 to "sustain and modernize nuclear forces".

NASA only spotted the giant rock last Sunday and have warned it is double the size of the meteor that hit Chelyabinsk in 2013, smashing windows and injuring more than 1,000 people. But NASA has said that 2018 CB will not harm our planet and will make a safe close flyby of the Earth.

It has been an active week for NASA and near Earth collision observers as another small asteroid, 2018 CC, passed 114,000 miles from Earth on Tuesday.

It is one of pair of asteroids which will pass by our planet this week.

AN asteroid heading for earth this evening has been described by NASA as "potentially hazardous". Scientists estimated the asteroid was 50-100 feet in diameter.

Tenagra Observatories in Arizona will use its telescopes to live stream a video of asteroid 2018 CB as it approaches Earth today.
