Leicester City forward Riyad Mahrez performing better than ever, says Claude Puel

Leicester City forward Riyad Mahrez performing better than ever, says Claude Puel”

Manchester City have been accused by Leicester manager Claude Puel of showing a lack of respect in their pursuit of Riyad Mahrez.

Mahrez returned to the Foxes squad on Saturday against City at the Etihad Stadium following a self-imposed exile after a transfer to the runaway Premier League leaders did not materialise.

Both Man City and the Algerian winger were ultimately left disappointed, though, as a move failed to materialise before the window closed for business.

Leicester host Sheffield United in the fifth round of the FA Cup on Friday and Puel insists he will play a strong side against the Blades, who are now eighth in the Sky Bet Championship. "That was the most important thing at the beginning", the Frenchman stated, according to ESPN.

Maguire made 134 appearances for the Blades before joining Hull City in the summer of 2014.

"For the future, like Riyad, he has a good profile and attributes to become a player who can make the difference".

Riyad Mahrez Set To Miss Man City Clash As Leicester Strike Escalates
What's now clear is that Mahrez didn't insist on having an exit clause in that deal. Moreover, Mahrez has recently missed matches against Everton and Swansea City.

"It is important to put an end to the talking about Riyad, he came back to the game at Manchester City". "I will pick a team to win the game, we want to get as far as we can in the FA Cup, of course".

"For some teams, it is not a difficulty to replace their players".

"We need perhaps some others' respect", Puel said of Manchester City's approach for Mahrez at a press conference on Wednesday.

"I can not suffer this situation because other teams make this thing against us".

But speaking at a news conference ahead of his side's FA Cup tie at home to Championship side Sheffield United on Friday, Puel, asked whether Mahrez was training as well as before, said: "I think better".

He said the rest of the players had welcomed Mahrez back "with a good feeling" and were "moving on and looking forwards". We have stayed united.
