Columbus Student Arrested after Posting Threat on Snapchat”

A student at Otsego High School threatened to shoot up that school in a manner worse than what was done at a high school in Florida a week ago. Students were cleared to return to classes at noon, according to Gboyinde Onijala, a spokeswoman for Montgomery County Public Schools.

Superintendent Art DiBenedetto said Tuesday that the student's auto was searched by a school resource officer, who found a knife in the vehicle, shortly after the alleged threats were reported Friday afternoon.

School officials say the student responsible for making the threat was "identified and isolated".

Detectives are still working to determine who is responsible for the original threat. The message included a video of himself at a gun range shooting an AR-15 - the same weapon used in the Parkland shooting.

Investigations thus far have uncovered several threatening messages with links to students social media accounts, mainly through students being tagged in widespread posts or retweeting content themselves, Ganley said.

School officials said in a post on Facebook that they could not confirm the legitimacy of the threat. "I once again urge parents to have a conversation with their children regarding the seriousness of threatening posts".

After investigating a perceived threat at the Vian High School, Police Chief Mark Fisher told 40/29 News there was no evidence that a high school boy made any threats towards the school or students. Officers took the girl to a juvenile detention facility on charges of making a terroristic threat.

Threats occurred elsewhere in the state, including in West Palm Beach.

Some students have allegedly used social media to make threats.

"It's a Second Amendment question of 'If I own a firearm, does that mean that I'm a threat and may kill someone?'" said Copps.

Students reported the threat via the anonymous reporting hotline and website Safe 2 Tell Colorado, and the school district and Lakewood Police began investigating around 11 p.m. Tuesday.
