Greitens attacks prosecutor, faces scrutiny from Republicans”

In a weird bit of narrative jiu jitsu, the party somehow has laid the blame at the feet of billionaire, and bogeyman to the alt-right, George Soros.

The Missouri Republican Party is calling Governor Eric Greiten's indictment for invasion of privacy a "political hit job". The motion says the privacy law was meant to apply to "voyeurs or peeping toms who take photographs in locations such as restrooms, tanning beds, locker rooms, changing rooms and bedrooms".

"Our client has never nor does he now have any interest in whether Governor Greitens is indicted, prosecuted, convicted, acquitted, remains governor, steps down or is impeached".

The Missouri GOP's criticism of the indictment stands in stark contrast to the dozens of GOP lawmakers now calling for Greitens to resign.

Missouri Senate Democrat Gina Walsh says she is thinking about the women and families whose lives have been changed because of the actions of Gov. Eric Greitens, who was indicted on a felony invasion of privacy charge. "For the good of our state and the ideals we stand for, I believe that Governor Greitens should resign".

Senate Majority Leader Mike Kehoe, a Jefferson City Republican, said he was shocked by the indictment and called it "certainly serious", but said he needed time to review it before weighing in on whether the governor should step down. "We look forward to a bipartisan committee of legislators elected by people across Missouri to find out what's really going on - ensuring St. Louis liberals aren't controlling the future of our state". "Governor Greitens has to go", Democratic state senator Jamilah Nasheed said.

Greitens was arraigned Thursday and later released on his own recognizance.

If the special committee decides the charges merit removal from office, the members will advance articles of impeachment to the full Missouri House chamber.

Red Sox Land Big Name Slugger With Massive Contract
The Red Sox won the AL East, with 93 wins in 2017, in spite finishing last in the American League with 168 homers last season. That included a destructive 62-game tour with the Arizona Diamondbacks after a mid-July trade from the Detroit Tigers .

Shortly after Greitens was booked and released on a written promise to appear Thursday afternoon, his attorney was planning to file a motion to dismiss the charges levied by the grand jury. The sentence for felony invasion of privacy is up to four years in prison.

Subsequent to the indictment, House Republican leaders announced they are forming a group of lawmakers to investigate the charges "and answer the question as to whether or not the Governor can lead our state while a felony case moves forward".

Greitens is due in court March 16. It alleges Greitens took a compromising photo of a woman without her consent during their affair in March 2015, before he was governor. "Missourians thought they voted for a person of character and integrity, and instead they got a liar and alleged criminal".

Republican Sen. Caleb Rowden and Rep. Kevin Corlew also called on Greitens to resign.

"You never know when the Soros money will come your way", Roe said to Dueker after she suggested Greitens would be brought down by the grand jury investigation.

While Dowd is working on Greitens' behalf, his law firm has hired Clout Public Affairs as a consultant.

One bone Greitens' defense team has to pick with the indictment is the notion that the woman "would have a reasonable expectation of privacy" while allegedly bound to exercise equipment in the basement of Greitens' home, which she told her ex-husband she entered on her own volition.

Greitens' charity, The Mission Continues, faced scrutiny during the campaign when Democrats accused him of insider politics for accessing the donor list to raise about $2 million through its top contributors.
