On Monday afternoon, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and US President Donald Trump met in Washington.

In the Oval Office, Netanyahu praised Trump's highly contentious decision to move the embassy to Jerusalem - which both Israel and the Palestinians claim as their capital.

Trump told reporters he may visit Israel for the opening of the new U.S. Embassy in Jerusalem on Israel's 70th Independence Day.

The new embassy will initially be located in a United States consular building in Jerusalem al-Quds while Washington searches for "a permanent location".

"We are as committed to peace as ever", the official said. Netanyahu was expected to ask for United States assistance in preventing Iran from gaining a stronger foothold in Syria as the civil war there deteriorates.

It came after police last month said they had sufficient evidence for his indictment for graft, fraud and breach of trust in two other cases.

"I think the point is that he's making is he's going to do it faster and far less expensive than a billion dollar project as was projected", said Sanders. "We have to stop this country that chants 'death to Israel, death to America, '" he said.

It's practicing aggression everywhere, including on our own borders. "That is our common challenge", said Netanyahu.

Trump has said he will end the agreement if Congress doesn't somehow "fix" it, but he has not yet taken that step.

Netanyahu is facing a corruption investigation back in Israel; he is in Washington to speak to AIPAC, the pro-Israel lobbying group.

Both Trump and Netanyahu entered their White House meeting under heavy political pressure domestically.

"And we seek also to broaden that peace to the Palestinians".

USA officials have told Reuters it would deal with all major issues, including Jerusalem, borders, security and the future of Israeli settlements and Palestinian refugees, and would also urge Saudi Arabia and other Gulf states to provide significant financial support to the Palestinians. We're working on it very hard.

Trump said the Palestinians want to return to the bargaining table "very badly", adding "we have a shot" at brokering a peace deal. Kostelitz said today, "I don't represent state's witnesses".
