What to expect from severe weather Sunday in SC”

Officially, the entire region is in the "slight risk" category, meaning scattered instances of severe-level wind gusts and isolated tornadoes are possible.

MnDOT has put cameras on many of its snow plows-you can see what road conditions are like before you head out here. A brief spin-up tornado can not be ruled out, but the majority of the storm damage will likely occur due to straight line thunderstorm winds. The biggest threat will be damaging straight-line winds. "Pick up any lightweight objects around the yard and use caution on the roads".

A combined 25,000 were without power in Lexington and Richland Counties as of 5:15 p.m., according to SCE&G. Berkeley Electric Coop reported 160 outages in the county. Edisto Electric Coop reported no outages.

Severe weather is not in the forecast, but a few isolated showers will be possible. It's going to be with us through Saturday night, bringing a risk of strong to severe storms with it. A warning means that action is required because of immediate threats. Right now, there are no severe thunderstorm or tornado warnings along the line.

The National Weather Service predicts a fairly dry week, but conditions may change by the weekend.
