US Suggests Russia, Syria May Tamper with Douma Evidence, Moscow Denies It

US Suggests Russia, Syria May Tamper with Douma Evidence, Moscow Denies It”

They arrived in Douma more than a week after the US government and its allies accused President Bashar al-Assad of killing his own people with poison gas in the April 7 attack.

A new strategy appeared to be crystalizing to let the US leave Syria without relinquishing its interests to Assad government or his allies, Iran and Russian Federation.

"As of today, Russian Federation and Syria still refuse to give inspectors access to the site of the attack", the French foreign ministry said in a statement.

It was the first time MPs had the chance to question Mrs May over her decision to join the USA and France in attacking Syria due to the Easter break.

"We can not go back to a world where the use of chemical weapons becomes normalised".

The OPCW experts are tasked with finding out whether chemical weapons were used in the April 7 strike.

Deputy Russian foreign minister Sergei Ryabkov blamed the Western air strikes carried out early on Saturday for holding up a mission by the OPCW team to Douma.

Syrian activists said more than 40 people were killed in the alleged attack. "It is right that Parliament has the power to support or stop the government from taking planned military action", he said.

"Not even a day passed after the missile strikes when their organizers started putting forward unusual and political initiatives", Nebenzia said.

The inspectors from the Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons are in Syria to investigate an April 7 incident in which Western countries and rescue workers say scores of civilians were gassed to death by government forces.

Hours earlier, Syrian government-run media said the country's air defenses confronted a new "aggression", shooting down missiles over the central region of Homs and a suburb of Damascus.

Lavrov also repeated Russia's claim that there was no chemical attack in Douma, asserting that "what did take place was.staged".

"The problem was that the experts of the OPCW had no permission to come to the scene in Douma". The inspectors "are now being prevented from doing so by the regime and the Russians", Prime Minister Theresa May of Britain said in Parliament, the media reported.

Earlier this month, four Iranian military personnel were killed in an airstrike on Syria's T4 air base, also in Homs.

"They were not waiting for the OPCW findings, and they made it clear that they will strike again if another chemical weapons attack happens". Israel did not confirm or deny the allegations.

Medical charities operating in opposition-held parts of Syria have dismissed those statements as propaganda, given under duress now that government forces control the town. He denied that Russian Federation was hampering the mission and suggested the approval was held up because of the Western airstrikes.

It included a visit to the main hospital to which the victims of the alleged chemical attack where taken.
