In an attempt to explain this bombshell to its presumably baffled fans, the club wrote on Facebook: 'President Donald Trump, in a courageous move, recognised Jerusalem as the eternal capital of Israel.

Ivanka Trump has landed in Israel for the inauguration of the US Jerusalem embassy on Monday, as protesters in Gaza prepare for a day of rallies along the frontier that are expected to be met with gunfire.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu bolstered in recent days by Trump's withdrawal from the Iran nuclear deal opened a special cabinet meeting at Jerusalem's Bible Lands Museum by again lauding the embassy move.

"I call on all countries to join the U.S. in moving their embassies to Jerusalem", Mr Netanyahu said, adding: "It's the right thing to do... because it advances peace". Protests are continuing across the region. It later annexed east Jerusalem in a move never recognised by the global community.

"Move your embassies to Jerusalem because it's the right thing to do", Netanyahu said.
