'Vomitive. Pathetic': Lars Von Trier film prompts mass walkouts at Cannes”

In the gruesome film, which the Danish director has called his most violent film to date, Matt Dillon stars as Jack, a serial killer with more than 60 deaths to his name.

Interestingly, Cannes 2018 is the first time Lars Von Trier has attended the festival since his controversial comments back in 2011 when he said that he sympathised with Hitler.

Written and directed by Von Trier, the film sees Uma Thurman and Riley Keough both fall victim to the hands of Dillon's Jack.

"The House That Jack Built takes place in 1970s USA". This is not surprising considering it's a serial killer movie directed by the guy who gave us Antichrist, which might just be the actual grosses, hardest to watch movie of the 21st century.

Trump Urges West Virginia Republicans to Oppose Blankenship
Evan Jenkins or Attorney General Patrick Morrisey , who are seen as more electable, against vulnerable Democratic Sen. Or the time when he said that term wasn't racist because "races are Negro, white Caucasian, Hispanic, Asian".

One thing's for sure, Dillon is magnificent in a very fearless role to take on - he may even be at a career best as Jack, but a stand-out performance is such a film that will be so lambasted over the coming moths leading to release, it'll be interesting if any recognition comes its way.

Taking to social media, numerous members of the press have already deemed the film to showcase continuously "vile" footage and have stated that the movie "should not have been made". The film looks visually inventive, and I like the idea of Matt Dillon having a big role to sink his teeth into. Von Trier's script follows Jack's development as a murderer, following him through five important killings and providing glimpses into his troubling coming-of-age experience. That decision was greeted negatively in some quarters, with critics pointing to allegations made by the musician Björk, who said that Von Trier had sexually harassed her on the set of his film Dancer in the Dark.

Likewise, other critics went onto note that the film - which graphically portrays the mutilation of women and children - felt "like a suicide note,", along with being deemed by The Guardian as "pretentious" and "pathetic". We experience the story from Jack's point of view. However, as this is Ol' Papa Genitalia Hater Von Trier we're talking about, The House That Jack Built could be just as disgusting as they suggest - if they walked out early on, guess how much worse it gets?

Despite the walkout the film received a six-minute standing ovation, reports The Hollywood Reporter. Let us know what you think.
