Bryson DeChambeau wins the Memorial Tournament in playoff

Bryson DeChambeau wins the Memorial Tournament in playoff”

Tiger Woods needed something special on Sunday in Round 4 of the 2018 Memorial Tournament to have a real chance at picking up his sixth win at Muirfield Village.

The 12th proved a pivotal turning point as Cantlay dropped his first shot of the day and DeChambeau leapt into the outright lead with a 10-foot putt for birdie, while Stanley appeared to be out of contention as he ran up a double-bogey five.

Tiger Woods ignited the galleries at the Memorial Tournament in OH on Friday with a five-under par 67 but still has a lot of work to do if he is to catch the leading pair of Joaquin Niemann and Kyle Stanley, who top the leaderboard on 11-under 133.

Another challenge came from Tiger Woods as the five-time Memorial victor hung on to his place among the contenders during a four-under-par 68 to improve his tournament total to nine under. Woods ran his 45-foot birdie putt about 7 feet by on the par-3 16th and missed it coming back, and then closed by missing a 3-foot par putt.

But he found himself trailing by two strokes as a calm and composed Cantlay took control of the tournament with four birdies in six holes from the third before DeChambeau pulled one back at the 11th.

Woods played the last five holes of the front nine in 5 under, starting with his second eagle of the week.

"Overall, if I just keep building on this, with how I'm hitting it right now, I'm in good shape for two weeks from now". "I've got a good feel for what I'm doing". Woods needs to be 50th in the world following The Open or the Canadian Open in July to secure a place in the WGC-Bridgestone Invitational, to be played at Firestone Country Club for the last time.

Oil holds gains as Mideast clashes raise risks after Saudi cuts
Brent for July settlement rose 44c to $78.67 a barrel on the London-based ICE Futures Europe exchange, after Monday's $1.11 gain. With more than 1 200 people wounded by live fire, it was the deadliest day in Gaza since Hamas's last war with Israel in 2014.

Woods is four shots off the lead heading into Sunday's action.

Meanwhile Jason Day fell out of contention after a hard, third-round 74 that left him tied-28.

"I shot 68 today but, again, that's probably the highest score I could have possibly shot today", he said.

A 90-minute weather day seemed to boring his momentum as the former world number one made pars on the next three holes but he snatched his fifth birdie at 15 before giving the shot back at the 17th to finish on a combined 139.

"I was releasing the putting beautifully early", he said.

Adam Hadwin of Abbotsford, B.C., made the cut on Friday but will not finish the tournament after shooting a 73 on Saturday to sit a 1-over par. After his ball squirted out some 30 yards, he was still in deep rough and came up short, and his pitch for par hit the cup and hopped a few feet by.

He finished with a 4-under-par 68, but much like Friday when he shot 67, he walked off disappointed rather than exuberant.
