New RICO Suit Against Weinstein Claims Brafman Firm Deceived Accuser

New RICO Suit Against Weinstein Claims Brafman Firm Deceived Accuser”

A class action lawsuit against the disgraced producer was filed in NY on Friday by three women.

The suit filed Friday includes the claim that a lawyer with the firm of Benjamin Brafman, who is Weinstein's defense counsel, used deceptive practices to trick one of the plaintiffs, Thompson, into handing over evidence against Weinstein she says she had in her possession.

More than 80 women have come forward in the last seven months to accuse Weinstein of sexually harassing or assaulting them.

Thompson stated that in a 2011 assembly in his New York Metropolis workplace to pitch Weinstein on a brand new know-how to market movies he sexually assaulted her, twice reaching beneath her costume to caress her leg and pinning her to a fridge within the workplace's kitchen.

Furthermore, Thompson is accusing Weinstein's current lawyer Ben Brafman and Brafman's fellow attorney Alex Spiro of deceptively acquiring evidence from her.

If convicted on the most serious charges, Weinstein could face between five and 25 years in prison. As a substitute of constant the assembly within the resort's restaurant space, Weinstein informed Thompson to comply with him to what she thought can be a screening room within the resort, based on the criticism.

"She knew that Weinstein might and would destroy her if she complained about his sexual misconduct", the lawsuit stated.

The other two actresses who are a party to the lawsuit are Caitlin Dulany and Larissa Gomes. "I left the Brafman firm well before Brafman ever represented Weinstein, and, in fact, I represent one of the key victims, but Ms".

CNN has reached out to Robert Weinstein, The Walt Disney Company, Miramax and The Weinstein Company for comment but not received any responses.

His spokesperson previously said: "Any allegations of non-consensual sex are unequivocally denied by Mr Weinstein".

Weinstein is suing to obtain documents and files belonging to The Weinstein Co. - a firm he helped establish but which dismissed him in October following the accounts of his alleged sexual exploitation of women. The suit adds Brafman & Associates to the list of Law Firm Participants in the Weinstein Sexual Enterprise that violated RICO.

Besides Thompson, two other women made new claims in the lawsuit, which seeks class-action status to represent hundreds of other women it says were victimized by Weinstein and what it described as his enablers.

He then promises to make a deal that same day, if only she'd meet him at his Tribeca Grand Hotel room later on. Brafman had argued Weinstein was denied access to information about the case and lacked preparation time.
