Trump 'ready' for North Korea summit as he hosts Japan's Abe

Trump 'ready' for North Korea summit as he hosts Japan's Abe”

"We're going to start a process", he told reporters.

"The hard part is after that".

Trump added that he hoped someday US relations with Kim's secretive Pyongyang government could be normalized.

"We're not going to go in and sign something on June 12", Trump asserted.

The conservative Abe is anxious that Trump may move to normalize relations with North Korea and could pull back from its military commitments to both Japan and South Korea.

The two countries have been in a formal state of war since the Korean War in the 1950s.

Mueller is investigating whether Trump associates coordinated with Russian Federation during the 2016 presidential election and whether Trump took steps to shut down that investigation through actions, including the firing of FBI Director James Comey.

"I think I'm very well prepared", Trump said.

The denuclearization of the Korean peninsula would usher in a new era of prosperity, security and peace for all Koreans, North and South and for people everywhere, he said.

"I think he would look at it very favourably so I think that could happen".

Unprompted, Trump also brought up Otto Warmbier, a college student from OH who was detained in North Korea in 2016 and died after he was returned to the USA with brain damage in 2017.

So it's extremely disappointing. "I'm just going to do what the doctor thinks I should do and get all the evaluations on it". So I'm just really trying to get my bearings and trying to feel out where I am and see where I can go", Serena stated.

The Tennis star also claimed on Twitter that she still gets tested twice a week for drugs and anti-doping. Her ranking was protected during maternity leave, enabling her to enter the French Open .

"I think it's going to be a very fruitful meeting, I think it's going to be an exciting meeting".

"Yes, certainly if it goes well".

"I would like to pay my deep respect to the outstanding leadership of President Trump, as he made this decision that no past presidents were able to accomplish", Abe said.

At their April meeting, Abe asked Trump "to take this one-in-a-million opportunity to raise the abduction issue and strongly urge its resolution".

A Central Intelligence Agency report on North Korea's Kim Jong Un may have influenced President Donald Trump's approach to Pyongyang, according to a Japanese press report. The president has said repeatedly: Previous administrations weren't prepared to do what we've done already.

Trump is to huddle with Secretary of State Mike Pompeo and National Security Adviser John Bolton Thursday afternoon "to continue their strategic discussions" ahead of the summit, said National Security Council spokesman Garrett Marquis. "If they don't denuclearise that will not be acceptable". That again is another thing that, I don't want to say infuriating, that's tragic about this man who's leading our country and thinks that he can run this as if he's running a mom and pop real estate agency.

"The fact that the summit is even occurring is significant in its own way", Balakrishnan added.

Katie Pavlich said the former New York City mayor, who is part of Trump's legal team handling Special Counsel Robert Mueller's Russian Federation investigation, should not be speaking publicly about North Korea, particularly when Trump appears to be "on the edge of diplomacy" with the rogue regime.

Prime Minister Shinzo Abe has plenty to worry about ahead of Donald Trump's meeting with Kim Jong Un next week, including the prospect of a deal that undermines Japan's six-decade security alliance with the USA and leaves the island nation vulnerable to attack.

Abe's main goal for the hastily-scheduled meeting is to warn Trump off any quick deal with North Korea that could shortchange Japanese interests.
